Product Description
Nikki Sudden, the post-punk maverick from Birmingham, steps out from the shadows of Swell Maps with his 1982 solo debut, "Waiting On Egypt." This album sees Sudden shedding the abrasive edges of his former band for a raw, stripped-down sound that channels the spirit of Marc Bolan.
While repurposing unused Swell Maps material, Sudden infuses it with a renewed energy and a pared-down guitar sound. His new compositions exude a confidence reminiscent of Bolan's glam rock era. Sudden even pays homage to the Rolling Stones' "I'd Much Rather Be With The Boys," delivering a withdrawn yet defiant rendition.
"Waiting On Egypt" is a testament to Sudden's versatility and artistic growth, marking a significant departure from his post-punk roots while maintaining his signature rebellious spirit.
